MIIA Returns For Second Quarterly Online Training Series In July 2025

NIGERIA - LAGOS:-

The Media Integrity Initiative Africa (MIIA) is pleased to announce the second instalment of its quarterly training series, following the successful debut in April 2025. The upcoming training will take place across two Saturdays - 12th and 19th July 2025 - via webinar, running from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on both days.


The Board of Facilitators has approved the curriculum, schedule, and a distinguished panel of instructors, all of whom are respected veterans in their respective fields of journalism and media.


TRAINING SCHEDULE AND COURSES


Day 1 – Saturday, 12 July 2025

• 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Course 1: Emerging Trends in Media Management

Facilitator: Azu Ishiekwene

(Former Editor & Executive Director at The Punch; currently Senior Vice Chairman/Editor-in-Chief, Leadership Newspapers)


• 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Course 2: Fundamentals of Health Reporting and Editing

Facilitator: Oluyinka Shokunbi

(Veteran Health Editor, President – Network of Reproductive Health Journalists of Nigeria; Managing Editor – HealthStylePlus Online)


Day 2 – Saturday, 19 July 2025

• 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Course 3: Mastering Broadcast Media Management

Facilitator: Deji Balogun

(Veteran Broadcaster; former General Manager – Lagos Television; ex-Abuja Station Manager – Channels TV)


• 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Course 4: Energy Reporting: Challenges and Strategies

Facilitator: Yakubu Lawal, mnipr

(Former Energy Editor – The Guardian; ex-Special Assistant to two Power Ministers; Chairman – Society of Energy Editors)

Reflecting on the momentum gained since the inaugural edition, media strategist and former Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture in Anambra State, Dr Tony Onyima, remarked:
