About Us

Media Integrity Initiative Africa (MIIA) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to empowering individuals in the field of and effective media practices. We provide free training programs designed to equip aspiring media professionals with essential skills in language proficiency, ethical counseling, and legacy mentoring. mission is to nurture excellence and inspire leadership among participants, fostering a culture of influence through practical examples. With a vision to "Train the trainers and trainable," we aim to shape future of journalism by cultivating a new generation of exemplary media.

Profiles of Our Facilitators

Lanre Idowu is an accomplished journalist, editor, author, and media consultant with expertise in journalism, publishing, content development, and information management. Educated at the University of Lagos in History and Fordham University, New York in Public Communication, he has held notable editorial roles, including positions at Daily Times, The Guardian on Sunday, Thisweek, and as Editor-in-Chief of Media Review.

 

A Fellow of the Nigerian Guild of Editors and a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Idowu is also a trustee of the Diamond Awards for Media Excellence and an active participant in media education. His commitment to journalism earned him the Lifetime Achievement Award for Journalistic Excellence from the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism in 2011.

 

Idowu has authored and edited numerous influential works, including Corruption in the Nigerian Media: The Brown Envelope Syndrome and Media on My Mind: Ethics, Governance and Other Matters. His editorial contributions span topics on governance, democracy, and journalism, making him a key figure in the advancement of ethical media practices and public communication in Nigeria.
